Device Swap

Outlets, switches, and GFCI brought up to code.

Licensed & Insured in PA · 5.0★ · 100+ Google reviews · Serving 5 PA counties

Two-prong ungrounded outlets, painted-over switches, and bathroom receptacles with no GFCI are everywhere in homes built prior to 1960, and they're some of the most common flags on an inspection report. A device swap clears them fast. We replace outlets, switches, and fixtures with current-code hardware, add GFCI protection in the kitchens, baths, garages, and exterior locations code now requires, and put in AFCI protection where it's called for. For most homes we're in and out the same day, which makes it the quickest way to take outdated electrical off the report before listing day.

Common questions

Does outlet or switch replacement require any paperwork?

No. Device-level work, swapping outlets, switches, and fixtures, doesn't require township approval in PA, which is part of why it's the fastest way to clear electrical flags before a sale. If the job turns out to need new circuits or panel work, that's a different scope, but straight device replacement doesn't.

What is GFCI and where does it go?

GFCI (ground-fault circuit interrupter) is the outlet that cuts power instantly if it senses current going somewhere it shouldn't, like through water or a person. Code requires it anywhere water and electricity meet: kitchens, bathrooms, garages, basements, laundry, and outdoor receptacles. Missing GFCI in those spots is one of the most common flags on the inspection reports we see.

Can you swap all devices in a house in one day?

For most homes, yes. A typical single-family device swap, outlets, switches, GFCIs, a few fixtures, is a same-day job. A larger house, or one where we find deeper issues behind the cover plates like no ground or scorched wiring, can run longer, and we'll tell you that before we start rather than after.
